The Basics
- We own our brand, code, design, and algorithms.
- You own your profile, photos, videos, audio, and bios.
- By posting, you give us a license to host, show, resize/crop, and moderate your content so the service works.
- Don’t post anything you don’t have rights to. Don’t copy other people’s stuff.
- See something wrong? Use the report tools or contact us and we’ll act.
Who Owns What
Platform-owned IP
- Branding: our name, logo, icons, and overall look & feel.
- Code & design: website and app code, UI layouts, animations, and graphics.
- Product content: copywriting, emails, illustrations, and marketing assets.
- Know-how: matching systems, ranking logic, anti-abuse tools (kept as trade secrets).
These are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Please don’t copy, sell, or reverse engineer them.
User-generated content (UGC)
You keep ownership of what you create and upload (e.g., profile text, photos, videos, audio, prompts, and messages).
Your License to Us (So the Site Works)
When you upload or post content on Tangles, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:
- host, store, cache, and display it to you and other users;
- format, compress, translate, or adapt it technically (e.g., crop/resize thumbnails);
- moderate it (e.g., detect fraud or policy violations);
- and sub-license it to our service providers (e.g., CDNs, storage, anti-abuse vendors) to run the service.
This license lasts while your content is on the platform. Removing content ends the license going forward, but reasonable copies may remain in backups, logs, or where others already saved or shared it.
Marketing use: we will not use your personal photos or profile in external ads without your separate, clear consent.
What’s Not Allowed
- Uploading content you don’t have rights to (e.g., someone else’s copyrighted photos).
- Copying, scraping, or bulk-downloading profiles or our databases.
- Using our brand or look in a way that confuses people.
- Reverse engineering or trying to bypass rate limits or security.
